Schengen visa form: where to find it?

Your journey to the Schengen area is taking shape, but before you can set foot in one of the 26 countries that make up this European area, you will need to go through some "paperwork".
Yes indeed! If you are a citizen of countries required to have a Schengen visa, you won’t be able to avoid it.
Don’t worry; we are here to guide you in preparing your application file and to inform you about the different documents you need to provide, including the essential Schengen visa application form.

What is the procedure for obtaining a Schengen visa?

Where should I apply?

You need to apply for a Schengen type C visa for a short stay at the embassy, consulate, or visa centers of the Schengen country you plan to visit.
If you plan to visit several Schengen States, you should submit your application either at the consular services of the country where you will stay the longest or at those of the Schengen country whose border you will cross first.

When should I apply for a Schengen visa?

Between preparing the application file, gathering the necessary documents, and scheduling an appointment with the competent authorities, it is recommended to apply for a Schengen visa about 6 weeks before your planned departure date.
Since the implementation of the new visa code (February 2020), you can now submit your application from 3 months up to 6 months before your travel date.

What documents are required for the application file?

The supporting documents may vary slightly from one Schengen country to another, but generally, you are required to include the following in your Schengen short-stay visa application file:

  • two recent identical passport photos that meet the standards
  • your passport: it must have been issued less than 10 years ago, be valid for at least 3 months beyond the visa expiration date, and contain 2 blank pages
  • a flight reservation confirmation
  • proof of accommodation (hotel reservation, invitation letter for the Schengen visa, etc.)
  • financial documentation: documents (pay slips, bank statements, etc.) proving that you can support yourself during your entire stay
  • a travel insurance certificate: it is mandatory and must meet specific criteria to be accepted
  • a duly completed and signed Schengen visa application form.

Schengen Visa Application Form: A User’s Guide

What is this form for?

Filling out this document is one of the most important steps in your visa application. This form is an essential information sheet about your travel plans and must be completed entirely, correctly, and with honesty, and you must not forget to sign it.
It contains 37 questions/fields to fill out. You must be able to provide information on each one, covering personal information (identity, nationality, status...), your travel documents (type and passport number, date and place of issuance...), the purpose of your stay in a Schengen country (tourism, studies, airport transit, family visit...) and details about your trip (Schengen countries you wish to visit, length of stay...).
Attention! An incomplete application form or one with incorrect information will result in a Schengen visa refusal!

Where can I find it?

  • Directly at the consular services (check the opening hours) of the Schengen country for which you wish to apply for a visa, where they will provide you with a form. Generally, it is also possible to download the form from the website of each embassy or consulate. In some cases, you can even fill it out directly online and print it afterward. However, you can also complete it separately and clearly by hand after printing it.
  • You can also download the Schengen form in French on our website.
  • To apply for a Schengen visa for France, you must complete the latest version of the form. This is the form called Cerfa n° 14076*03. On the official visa website for France, France-Visas, france-visas.gouv.fr/web/france-visas/accueil (copy and paste this into your browser), you can enter your information online directly. Your visa application form will then be automatically completed and available for printing.
IMPORTANT! On the day of your appointment, you must present your Cerfa form in the final paper version. It should not contain the mention "DRAFT". If your CERFA shows the mention "DRAFT", it means that your application is not finalized on France-Visas, and it will be refused on the day of submission.

5 Things to Remember About the Schengen Visa Application Form

  1. A Schengen visa application form is individual. Even if children under 6 are exempt from processing fees, a visa application form must be filled out on their behalf
  2. It is not possible to fill out a form for the entire family. Each member must apply for their own Schengen visa
  3. Use capital letters and avoid accents for better clarity
  4. Some consular services require you to submit two copies of this form. In that case, don’t forget to date and sign both copies
  5. Remember to keep an additional copy for yourself
