2. The consular districts of Oran and Annaba

  • Applicants residing in other consular districts than Algiers can submit their France visa application online at the TLS contact centers in Oran (visa-fr.tlscontact.com/dz/orn/index.php) or TLS contact Annaba (visa-fr.tlscontact.com/dz/aae/index.php). After completing the online form through the France-Visas website and reviewing the required documents, an appointment date will be provided.

After submitting your application and biometrics collection at the visa center, your France visa application will be processed by the French Consulates General in Algiers, Annaba, and Oran, who are the only authorities authorized to make visa decisions.

What are the processing times for my application and obtaining a visa for France?

Avoid leaving it until the last minute! The usual appointment wait time is typically around 1 month. During peak periods (from June to November), this delay may be longer. On average, it is recommended to apply 6 weeks before your planned departure date.

You can submit your France visa application from Algeria as early as 3 to 6 months before the intended departure date.

You will be notified if your France visa application has been accepted by receiving an SMS, email, and a notification on your personal account. You will then be invited to come and collect your passport.

What documents do I need to provide for a short-stay France visa?

During your appointment at the France visa services, you must present your complete visa application with all the required documents and supporting evidence as specified during your online registration on the France Visas website for Algeria (france-visas.gouv.fr/web/dz). These documents may vary depending on the purpose of your stay and the applicant's profile.
Any incomplete application will result in a visa refusal.
The list below is not exhaustive.
Some of the required documents typically include:

  • your passport: issued within the last 10 years with a validity of more than 3 months after the date you must leave the Schengen Area. It must have 2 blank pages
  • the Schengen visa form (Cerfa no. 14076*04) duly completed and signed
  • the receipt of your visa application registration
  • two recent passport-sized photos that meet the required standards
  • proof of the purpose of travel: confirmation of an organized trip booking or other documents indicating the planned itinerary
  • proof of accommodation in France: invitation letter, accommodation letter from the inviting company, or hotel reservation…
  • proof of financial means: demonstrating that you can support yourself during your stay (bank statements for the last three months, three most recent payslips, pension certificate with monthly amount, financial guarantee from a private individual with proof of their income…)
  • proof of your residence in your home country: these vary depending on your status (employee, civil servant, self-employed, retired, student…) and are specified during your online visa application
  • the medical travel insurance certificate: this is mandatory
  • proof of prior payment of service fees (paid online or at a bank): when required by the external service provider

Note: During your appointment, you must present the original documents and their copies. Additionally, those written in Arabic must be translated into French.

Procedure for applying for a visa to come to France: special cases

If you are not an Algerian national

If you are a foreigner residing in Algeria and your nationality requires obtaining a Schengen visa (see the list of affected countries), you can apply for a French visa from Algeria. To do this, you must include proof of your regular status in Algeria: an Algerian residence permit, valid for at least three months after the expiration of the visa.

For individuals engaged in a specific activity/profession

Depending on the applicant's profession, specific and additional supporting documents may be required when applying for a French visa.
Examples:

  • For academics (assistant, associate professor, professor, dean, rector...): a certificate of employment issued by the higher education institution
  • For journalists: a certificate of employment issued by the press organization they work for
  • For freelancers (doctor, lawyer, architect, pharmacist...): a certificate from the professional association

For individuals in a Kafala situation

Additional supporting documents must be included in the application for applicants concerned by Kafala.
Regarding the Makfoul:

  • Full copy of the birth certificate + translation
  • If applicable, copy of the biological parents' family booklet + translation
  • Original judicial Kafala certificate + copy + translation
  • If applicable, the resignation statement of the biological parents issued by the Algerian DASS + translation
  • Medical coverage for the child for the first three months of stay in France

Regarding the Kafils:

  • Motivation letter
  • French criminal record extract
  • Family booklet of the guardian
  • Photocopy of the French nationality proof of the "guardians"
  • Combined family resources: last tax notice + last three pay slips + last three bank statements
  • Proof of accommodation: rental contract or property title indicating the number of rooms and the size of the accommodation

Exemption from appointment for certain applicants

Since February 2, 2020, the spouses of French nationals, European Union (EU) nationals, or European Economic Area (EEA) nationals, as well as their children under 18 years old, can appear without an appointment at the VFS Global center for France in Algiers to submit their visa application. Upon presenting proof of their status at the entrance of the center. Please note! They must still complete their pre-application online on the France-Visas website, print the completed form, sign it, and bring the required supporting documents.

What is the visa fee for France?

When submitting your visa application, you will have to pay visa application fees (collected by the French administration) and have already paid before your appointment service fees (payment made online or at a bank), collected by external service providers (VFS or TLS).
These fees are not refundable, even in case of visa refusal.
