Where to apply for a Schengen visa for Spain from Algeria?
The Spanish Embassy and the Spanish Consulate General in Algeria have outsourced the collection and processing of visa applications to their partner: the BLS center. There are 2 BLS centers where you can submit your visa application for Spain: in Algiers and in Oran. Depending on your place of residence in Algeria, the locations for submitting visa applications for Spain vary.

How to submit your application?
- You must fill out a visa application form
- Gather all the necessary documents to submit with your visa application
- Make an appointment with the BLS center to submit your application
- Pay the application processing fees and service fees on-site
1. Fill out the Schengen visa application form
After determining the type of visa you need based on your travel plans to Spain, you must complete an application form.
You can obtain it directly from the consular services (check opening hours) of the Schengen country you intend to visit.
However, it is usually possible to download it from the website of each embassy, consulate, or authorized visa application center (in this case, the BLS center).
Sometimes, it is offered to fill out the information online and print it afterward. But you can also fill it out neatly by hand after printing it.

2. What documents to attach to your Schengen visa application for Spain?
The required documents vary depending on the applicant and the purpose of the trip. Therefore, the list below is not exhaustive.
- Your passport: issued less than 10 years ago with a validity of more than 3 months after the date you are scheduled to leave the Schengen Area. It must have 2 blank pages
- Algerian residence permit if applicable • Recent family civil status document (original) • Completed and signed visa application form
- A recent passport photo, in color and with a white background
- A letter detailing the reasons for the trip (tourism, family, etc.)
- Round-trip flight reservation • Proof of accommodation (invitation letter, hotel reservation, etc.)
- Financial proof: documents (pay slips, original bank statements from the past 3 months, etc.) proving your ability to cover your expenses during the stay
- A travel insurance certificate: it is mandatory and must meet several criteria to be valid
- Parental authorization (mother and/or father) if the applicant is a minor (under 19 years old) and when the applicant is applying and/or traveling alone
- Proof of residence for passports issued outside the consulate’s jurisdiction
Important! All documents submitted must be in French or Spanish. If the original is in Arabic, the translation must be submitted alongside the original document.

3. Make an appointment at the BLS center to submit your application
After filling out, printing, and signing the visa application form and gathering all the necessary supporting documents, you must make an appointment at the BLS International visa application center to submit your application and pay the fees.
You can make an appointment by phone, email, or online through the BLS website.
Important!
Although visa applicants can usually submit their application up to 6 months before the date of travel and at least 15 days before the planned departure date, please note that the BLS centers currently only accept applicants from the following categories:
- At the BLS center in Algiers: only applicants traveling within a maximum of 1 month (30 days) can submit their application
- At the BLS center in Oran: only applicants traveling within a maximum of 3 months (90 days) can submit their application
4. Pay the visa application fees
At your appointment at the BLS center (in person or through a representative), you will submit your application with the required supporting documents for transmission to the consular authorities. You will also pay the visa application fees + service fees. Payment is to be made in local currency and in cash only. You will then be given a payment receipt and a reference number corresponding to the submission of your application.
Schengen visa application fees
- Adult: 80 € or 12,510 DZD
- Child between 6 and 12 years old: 40 € or 6,255 DZD
- Child under 6 years old: free
Service fees: 2,415 DZD, approximately 15 € * per application

You can track the progress of your application using the tracking service on the BLS website. When your application has been processed, you will be notified to go to the BLS center with your submission receipt.
You will then be able to collect your passport with the Schengen visa sticker affixed, provided that the relevant authorities have approved your application.
Note: Even if your visa application is refused, no fees will be refunded.

What are the entry conditions for Spain during the Covid period?
In addition to the mandatory travel documents you must present (valid passport, Schengen visa, etc.), you must also comply with the entry requirements in place during the health crisis, as is the case for all travelers going to Spain.
- You must have completed a health control form before departure (including for transit travelers and children under 12 years old)
- If you are traveling by plane, you must do so via the Spain Travel Health website or app
- If you are traveling by boat, you must fill it out on the website. Once completed, you will receive a QR code that you will present at boarding and upon arrival in Spain.
- Presentation of a vaccination certificate and/or Covid-19 test?
- If you are traveling from a country or territory included in the list of low incidence countries and excluded from high-risk areas, you do not need to present a vaccination certificate
- If you are traveling from a country or territory on the list* of high-risk areas, you must present, in addition to the QR Code, a vaccination certificate** or recovery certificate and the negative result of a Covid-19 test (the tests accepted in Spain are NAAT (PCR, LAMP, TMA, or similar) performed within 72 hours before arrival.
Minors aged 12 to 18 must present a negative result of a PCR test performed within 72 hours before arrival.
Children under 12 years old are exempt from presenting a vaccination certificate or test.
- Upon arrival by air or sea, you will undergo a health check: temperature measurement, visual inspection of your condition, and verification of your documents.

** EU Digital COVID Certificate or equivalent certificate with vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or the World Health Organization (WHO).

Do Algerian nationals need a visa to travel to Spain?
Yes. Algeria is among the non-European countries whose nationals are required to apply for a visa to enter the Schengen Area, which includes Spain. The type of visa depends on the purpose and duration of the trip.

The applicant's place of residence determines the consular district they fall under. Based on this, you must submit your visa application for Spain either at the BLS International center in Algiers or the one in Oran.
How much does a short-stay visa for Spain cost from Algeria?
For a short-stay visa (less than 90 days) - the fee is 80 euros for adults and children over 12 years old. 40 € for children aged 6 to 12 years old, and the Schengen visa for Spain is free for children under 6 years old.
