What documents are required to obtain a visa for Belgium?
For all countries in the Schengen area, the list of required documents is the same. Be sure to include all these documents so your application can be processed in a timely manner.
- A recent passport-sized photo, in color and on a white or light grey background.
- A photocopy of the passport (valid beyond the travel period).
- A letter detailing the reasons for the trip (tourism, family, etc.).
- Proof of round-trip flight reservation.
- Accommodation proof (family invitation, hotel booking, etc.).
- Financial proof: documents (last 3 pay slips, original bank statement, etc.) showing your financial stability and ability to support yourself during your stay.
- Travel insurance certificate: this coverage is mandatory to ensure the safety of the traveler.
During your appointment to finalize your application, be sure to bring the originals of the documents requested. For documents written only in Arabic, a translation may be required. Anticipate this request and provide the translation accordingly.
Note: You must specify the reasons for your trip to Belgium. A “short stay” visa is intended for trips up to 90 days. If the reasons for your trip are work or study-related, the type of residence permit will be different. Make sure to specify the nature of your stay in Belgium.
Who is required to apply for a visa to Belgium?
It is important to note that every traveler from Tunisia traveling to Belgium must have their own personal visa. You must also pay the required fee for obtaining this visa:
- Adult: 80 €.
- Child aged 12 to 18 years: 80 €.
- Child aged 6 to 11 years: 40 €.
- Child under 6 years: free.
Additional service fees are 25€ and must be paid in Tunisian Dinars, 82.50 TND according to the current consulate exchange rate. The service fee amount was decided in agreement with the Belgian Consulate General in Tunisia and covers various TLScontact services.
ETIAS will control entries to the Schengen area starting in 2021
ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) will be responsible for controlling the entry of foreigners from non-Schengen countries starting in 2021. A prior application will be required to obtain a valid residence permit.
Once the system is in place, all foreign nationals, including those from countries with exemption agreements, will need to complete this process.
