How to apply for a Spanish visa from Tunisia

If you are a Tunisian citizen or resident and wish to travel to Spain, you need to apply for a Schengen visa for Spain.
For a short stay, you need to apply for a type C visa (90 days maximum within any 180-day period). This allows free movement within the Schengen Area, which includes 29 countries, including Spain.

Where to apply for a Schengen visa for Spain from Tunisia?

The Spanish Embassy in Tunisia has outsourced visa application collection to a service provider: the company BLS International.
However, the processing of applications and the decision to grant a visa for Spain remains the sole responsibility of the consular services of the Spanish Embassy in Tunis.

How to apply for a visa for Spain from Tunisia?

  1. Go to the BLS International website
  2. Select the short-stay visa type you need (tourism, business, family visit, student, transit, medical visit, etc.)
  3. Review the documents and supporting documents you need to attach to your application
  4. Download, print, fill out, and sign the visa application form
  5. Make an online appointment at the BLS International center
  6. On the day of your appointment, submit your complete visa application, your biometric data (fingerprints and digital photo) will be collected, and you will pay the visa processing fee and service charges
  7. You will be given a receipt with a reference number. It will be used to track the progress of your application and to pick up your passport
  8. Your application will be transferred to the consular services of the Spanish Embassy, and you will need to wait for a response
  9. Once your application is processed, you will receive an SMS or an email inviting you to pick up your passport and visa (if granted) at the BLS International center

Good to know! BLS offers a home service on its website and by appointment. Your visa application forms, documents, and biometric data will be collected at a location of your choice by BLS agents. Your passport will be returned to you by mail.

How to fill out the Schengen visa application form

After determining the type of visa you need based on your travel plans to Spain, you must complete the appropriate form.
You can obtain it directly from the consular services (check their opening hours) of the Schengen country you wish to visit.
But generally, it can be downloaded from the website of each embassy, consulate, or mandated visa center (in this case, the BLS International center).
Sometimes, you can enter the information directly online and print it later. You can also fill it out clearly by hand after printing it.

What documents to attach to your Schengen visa application for Spain?

The required documents vary depending on the applicant and the purpose of travel. Therefore, the list below is not exhaustive:

  • Your passport: issued less than 10 years ago with a validity of more than 3 months after the date you must leave the Schengen Area. It must have 2 blank pages
  • A legal residence card in Tunisia if the applicant is not a Tunisian citizen
  • A completed and signed short-stay visa application form
  • A recent passport-sized photo, in color and with a white or light gray background
  • Reservation confirmation for the round-trip flight
  • Proof of accommodation (invitation letter, hotel reservation, etc.)
  • Financial proof: documents (pay slips, etc.) showing your ability to support yourself during the stay
  • A travel insurance certificate: it is mandatory and must meet several criteria to be accepted: minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical care/hospitalization, medical repatriation. It must be accepted by all Schengen countries and valid for the entire duration of the visa
  • If the applicant is a minor (accompanying or not their parents): parental authorization + maternal authorization + birth certificate.
    If guardianship is not provided by the parents: guardian's authorization + proof of guardianship (death certificate of parents or document proving a court decision)

Important! Keep the original documents with you, as they may be requested by border authorities upon your arrival in the Schengen Area.

How much does a Schengen visa for Spain cost?

You must pay the visa application processing fee + service fee. These fees must be paid in cash.
A payment receipt and a reference number corresponding to the submission of your application will then be provided.

- Schengen visa type C application fee (short stay of less than 90 days)

  • 259.570 TND* (80 €) for adults and those over 12 years old
  • 129.790 TND (40 €) for children aged 6 to 12 years
  • Free for children under 6 years old

- Service fee

  • 50.130 TND (approximately 15 €) for each application

Note: Even if your visa application is rejected, no fees will be refunded.

What are the processing times for a visa application and obtaining a response?

It is recommended to submit your application 6 weeks before the intended departure date. Applications can be submitted as early as 6 months before and no later than 15 calendar days before travel. The processing time for a Schengen visa application is set at 15 days.
Warning! This period may be longer (up to 60 days) if documents or information are missing or if the application is made during peak periods (school holidays, summer period).
